FAQs
What is Cariba Epis?
Cariba Epis is a Haitian-style seasoning base made with fresh herbs, peppers, garlic, and aromatics — similar to sofrito used in Latin cuisine. It’s the heart of Caribbean cooking and adds deep flavor to meats, rice, soups, and vegetables.
How do I use Cariba Epis?
Use it as a base for marinating meats, sautéing vegetables, cooking rice or beans, or adding flavor to stews and soups. A spoonful goes a long way — just add it to your dish before cooking to bring rich, authentic flavor.
Does Cariba Epis need to be refrigerated?
Yes. Once opened, we recommend refrigerating it to preserve its freshness and flavor. It can last up to 2 months when stored properly in the fridge.
How long does it last unopened?
Our epis is hot-filled and sealed for freshness, giving it a long shelf life when unopened — perfect for pantry storage or gifting. Always check the “Best By” date on the jar.
Is Cariba Epis the same as sofrito?
Not exactly — but they’re cousins! While sofrito is more common in Latin American cooking, epis has a Caribbean twist with bold herbs, Scotch bonnet peppers, and citrus for brightness.
